New Bridge

These are Photos of the Trail Itself

The entrance to the trail is signed, burmed and has two trees across.

A small creek crossing needs to be bridged for ATV & foot traffic (approx 15-20ft span).

Bear scrapings on this tree go all the way to the top.

This small meadow occurs at the intersection of two trails.  The main trail is clear enough for travel but could use a light brushing.  The other trail (center in this photo) is very overgrown and has a log across.  We think it unlikely that anyone will use the other trail.

Brush just up from the clearing

This is to the left of the trail where the trail switches back northward about 2/3 of the way up.  Avalanche lilies can barely be made out in this photo.

Better shot of the lilies.

Binoculars were going non-stop

The trail has a thin layer of vegetation but is still a good hard surface.  We hiked after 4 days of solid rain and the trail bed was well drained.

Lunch break.  Charlie the Eskimo taking in the view from the cliff.

On our way up to the rock cairn.  The cairn is located at the highest local peak at centre-right in this photo.

A 1km hike north from the rock cairn brings you to an incredible cliff that drops away undercutting the ridge.  The cliff is home to bighorn sheep, the avalanche runs below are popular with spring bear.  The next set of photos is a sequence sweeping from the north, then east, then south. then west, and finally north again.

Incredible view to the south, the trail off to the right.  I believe that's Irene on the ridge in the distance

Everyone taking a breather at the summit just past the end of the viable road.  View again is southward.  Trail goes along the right but not visible in this picture.  Where we're standing is pretty much impossible for an ATV to climb, and then cliff behind me.

Hiking back down.

This is the view down a possible trail that could complete a circle back down the ridge.  Used by snowmobiles in winter to complete the loop.  Bill tells us this trail is sloughed over on the way down, and the top is fairly overgrown.  We need to sign this at a minimum, close with barrier or a log if abused.

I'm pretty sure this is the view south from the rock cairn.
